Position Description:The Market Development Assistant will assist the Market Development Team in maintaining current relationships within our network and building new relationships with buyers and regional Good Food producers to educate and ultimately increase Good Food sales in the Midwest. This role will assist in the execution of Farmer Training Programs and Food Safety Workshops developed for farmers while collaborating with consultants and volunteers to carry out the goals and objectives of the Market Development and Farmer Training Programs.
Full-time, permanent, salaried, benefits-eligible, exempt status
Nonprofit-competitive compensation commensurate with experience and skill level
Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., 40 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends
Duties and Responsibilities:
Farmer Training Program: 50%
Provide logistical support, guidance, and materials to partners before, during and after workshops
Assist Farmer Training Manager with program communications and website updates
Prepare marketing toolkits and materials for partners in collaboration with the Farmer Training Manager
Share ongoing resources with workshop participants
Maintain program data for internal and external use
Assist in the preparation of outreach materials in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Team
Disseminate necessary information to partners and program participants
Track and manage sales cycle and inventory of all Farmer Training publications
Assist in implementation of innovative programming
Other duties as assigned
Market Development: 50%
Assist with maintenance of a prospective Good Food Buyer & Producer Database for sales and promotional efforts
Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Team regarding Market Development collateral and website maintenance/ updates
Assist with Market Development Event & Workshop preparation and execution
Assist with partner communication
Pull reports as requested using CRM
Assist with logistical components of market development events
Other duties as assigned
Work with other FamilyFarmed programs and program customers on Market Development, Food Safety and other areas as needed
Actively work with project teams, consultants, partners, funders and targeted participants to meet or exceed project goals
Suggest improvements to maintain high-caliber programs, projects, outputs and outcomes
Detail-Oriented: Deadlines, data collection, file maintenance and accuracy in customer service are an important part of this position.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and filing cabinets.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Skills & Experience:
Nonprofit Administrative and/or Program Assistant experience; experience working with USDA-funded programming a plus
Keen interest in thriving in all aspects of job description and willingness to develop the skills, knowledge and abilities to continually improve performance
Solid working knowledge of Google for Business Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and CRM software
Stellar customer service and administrative skills
Skilled communicator able to write, edit, proofread and tailor communications to different audiences using various means of communication
Able to shift gears smoothly and maintain momentum on multiple assignments
Self-directed and self-motivated team player
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and manually transport program materials and packages short distances
Initiative, integrity, organizational skill, attention to detail, time management and juggling multiple priorities with grace are critical to the success of this position.
