Under the direction of the Senior Director of Behavioral Health Services, the Director of Behavioral Health Services is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the Short Term Residential Treatment Program clinical department according to DMH, DCFS and Maryvale expectations. In conjunction with the Clinical Supervisors and Director of Quality Assurance/Improvement, this position ensures that clinical programming and staffing is in accordance with current Department of Mental Health standards and requirements.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative + Programming
Collaborates and leads treatment team meetings and ensures effective development of quality mental health treatment programs for clients in Short Term Residential Treatment.
Ensures treatment team is actively engaged in CFT and CANS tools.
Monitors all DMH updates, including changes and expectations in contract language.
In conjunction with the Clinical Supervisors, coordinates psychiatric, psychological, and Mental Health services provided to clients.
Actively participates in external meetings with stakeholders, including all contractors.
Responsible for managing, monitoring and tracking productivity standards according to targeted budgeted expectations.
Participates in the recruitment, hiring, evaluation and disciplinary process for all staff in the behavioral health.
Supports Maryvale’s Performance and Quality Improvement Plan and participates in discussion regarding goals, data collection and analysis.
Ensures the Trauma Informed Care philosophy when supporting and addressing the needs of clients.
In conjunction with the Clinical Supervisors and Director of Quality Assurance/Improvement, tracks all documentation required under DMH contracts, including ongoing chart reviews, participation in various clinical meetings, paperwork tracking, and audit preparation.
Participates in the development and implementation of individualized service plans for clients and their families.
Monitors and observes the outpatient therapeutic interventions provided to clients.
Oversees the implementation and use of evidence-based practices.
Doctoral or Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or related field; from an approved graduate school.
Licensed in California as a Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist.
Pre-employment physical exam and criminal and Office of Inspector General’s background clearance.
Experience working with children ages 6-18.
A thorough understanding of the clinical needs of disturbed and traumatized children and their families.
Strong knowledge base in Evidence Based Practices including TFCBT, MAP, and Seeking Safety.
Track record of providing high quality mental health services, preferably in the areas of child, adolescent, group, and family therapy.
Experience with L.A. County Department of Mental Health documentation standards.
