SENIOR GLOBAL ACCOUNTING AND OPERATIONS SPECIALIST , Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF)-Tax and Global Operations , to provide business, financial, and operational expertise, analysis, and support to VPF and Institute leadership. Responsibilities will include performing highly complex reporting, analysis, and control of accounting and financial functions for MIT global entities/collaborations; assisting with managing reporting and compliance requirements of MIT's foreign branches/subsidiaries/operations; analyzing rules for those countries where MIT has a presence or is considering establishing a presence; managing MIT's education and research contracts post-execution; identifying and coordinating improvements/automation efficiencies; managing ongoing external relationships; developing/delivering presentations and trainings; creating/maintaining documentation; leading projects; and other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (master's/MBA preferred) in accounting or related field; at least seven years' financial operations experience, including accounting and account reconciliations; experience with global business operations; strong command of U.S. GAAP accounting principles and relevant federal regulations; ability to quickly learn and master accounting information systems and report writing tools; strong customer service, leadership, analytical, problem-solving, consultative, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills; ability to actively and independently manage issues, processes, and projects from start to completion; meticulous attention to detail; ability to work across teams, build consensus, and anticipate outcomes in order to drive processes forward in a highly collaborative and fast-paced setting with nonnegotiable deadlines; discretion with sensitive/confidential information; proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; flexibility; and willingness to pitch in. CPA; knowledge of IFRS accounting principles and relevant international regulations; experience in higher education or nonprofit accounting, especially for organizations with overseas portfolios/subsidiaries; familiarity with MIT financial, administrative, and operational policies/procedures; and experience with SAP and BrioQuery preferred.
