Open Heart Magic, the small but mighty children’s charity helping sick kids get their magic back, is looking for an Assistant Director, Operations and Development. It’s an exciting time as we start our 15th year and prepare to launch our Bedside Magic Program at our 15th children’s hospital partner. We're ready to take our organization to the next level and need the passionate person who is going to help us reach new heights.
Our OHM community is the heart of our mission– 170 volunteer magicians in 3 states, an impressive Board of Directors, an enthusiastic Professional Board, 80 athletes on our Charity Team – and our staff of just 6 works hard to support and engage that core group of people that make OHM what it is.
We don’t always operate quite like the typical non-profit, so we’re not looking for a typical candidate. It is magic, after all. Laying the groundwork for a strategic plan that will allow us to reach seriously ill kids in children’s hospitals across the nation in a smart, sustainable manner drives us to operate more like a start-up, and we’re looking for someone with that level of innovation.
What we’re looking for:
Someone who knows non-profit – you’ve had experience with Boards, volunteer engagement, fundraising, grants, and events
A ‘big idea’ thinker who can back it up with proven planning, tracking, and project management
Flexibility – both in sometimes working nights/weekends for events, as well as sometimes changing direction on a plan or project because priorities have changed
A team player with great communication skills, who is ready (and happy) to wear multiple hats
An operational ninja who is task-oriented, organized, and results-focused and is excited by the possibility of building something that can impact thousands more kids
A creative problem solver who can jump into any situation and take charge
What you’ll do:
Help us grow our fundraising programs to fund our proposed growth – grants, individual appeals, corporate partnerships, and stewardship
Plan and implement recruitment processes for volunteers, Charity Team athletes, and more
Jump in to our organization’s operations, streamlining existing processes, improving efficiencies, and taking ownership of some of them as well
A little bit of everything across the spectrum – sometimes stuffing envelopes, sometimes planning and implementing campaigns and strategic plans from beginning to end, and everything in between
What we offer:
Full time position with total compensation of $52,000 to $57,000, depending on relevant experience and education. This total compensation includes an annual bonus.
A casual and fun office, with the opportunity to own projects and truly make an impact
Use of Mac laptop provided; use of iPhone after 6-month probation period
Excellent medical insurance; 401K available after probation period
Paid time off for sick days, vacation, and holidays
Future compensation based on performance and OHM growth
