The Laboratory Coordinator in the CTY Research Lab is responsible for coordinating research and support activities for a research laboratory in cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and education. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Research & Special Initiatives this role will assist with various administrative tasks including but not limited to administrative tasks associated with experimental design and data analysis tasks, record maintenance (consent forms, HIPAA agreements, screening agreements), and overall general management administration of the lab. In addition, this person will initiate and coordinate special projects requiring coordination within the lab, and large scale collaboration across other CTY departments, and with individuals outside of CTY (JHU and the broader community)
Coordinating and managing independent research projects with collaborators within and beyond CTY at the direction of the Associate Director.
Serving as the point person for external relations in the lab (schools, districts, other research departments).
Responsible for all inquiries pertinent to training and research protocols.
Ensuring compliance of research protocols and general activities of lab. Coordinate record keeping necessary to ensure required compliance with research efforts (IRB training tracking, etc.)
Managing the CTY online research network (CTY Explorers Network).
Distributing all protocol information (e.g., protocols, consent, amendments) and maintaining an accurate distribution log.
Maintaining good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements.
Maintaining regulatory binders for each assigned site and/or online storage of all research protocol materials.
Preparing IRB submissions as needed.
Ensuring that research staff maintain complete and accurate research data and charts on a real time basis and are well prepared for auditing and monitoring visits.
Participate in the development and implementation of manual of procedures and CTY Standard Operating Procedures for the lab.
Provide administrative support for generation, tracking, and resolution of data queries with focus on adhering to laboratory policies and compliance requirements.
Assist in database development and testing as needed. Assist in creating forms and other study related materials. Adhere to guidelines regarding the sensitivity and confidential nature of student information and data quality guidelines.

High School Diploma/GED and some college coursework in psychology, cognitive science, education, or related areas is strongly required.
One year of related experience is required.
Experience performing administrative support and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is required.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, cognitive science, education, or a related field is preferred.
Two years of related experience is prefered
Knowledge of JHU institutional requirements, IRB protocol and submission policies and procedure is desired.

Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification:
Proficiency is required in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access); email software (MS Exchange or similar), internet browser, SAP. Proficiency in Mac and PC platforms is desired. Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, Matlab) is desired.

Physical Requirements for the Job:
Ability to sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time
Dexterity of hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse pad and other office machinery
The incumbent will be required to communicate regularly via telephone and face to face with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate and timely information in these settings
Position also requires a degree of mobility common to working in an office environment; bending, kneeling or standing during events and presentations may be required.
