About The Summit School
The Summit School is a not-for-profit full day special education program approved by the State of Maryland for student with specific learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other learning differences, and is accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland and DC Schools (AIMS). The school was established in September 1989 to promote literacy and success for bright children, grades 1-8, ages 6-15, who have unique educational needs and who have often been diagnosed with a language-based learning disability. The instructional program offers an integrated mainstream curriculum that emphasizes active teaching and learning, research-based methodologies and sensitivity to students’ unique leaning styles. We meet students where they are academically and bring them up to where they need to be. Our students receive individualized instruction in language arts, math, science, and social studies. Instruction is not only rigorous, it is relevant. Students learn and apply concepts as they relate to real world issues. Summit’s program is a well-rounded program, offering students classes in performing and visual arts, outdoor education, and physical education. Ideal setting located eight miles south of Annapolis. www.thesummitschool.org
