Fred Hutch has ambitious goals when it comes to eliminating cancer and infectious disease. We are using data science in bold new ways to achieve them. As a result, the Fred Hutch Information Security team is growing. We are looking for a Director of Security Operations and Engineering to design, build, deploy and operate for Fred Hutch. Reporting to the Senior Director of Information Security, you will drive long term operational security thought leadership throughout IT and the diverse Fred Hutch technical community. You will engage with direct reports, Information Security team members and partners inside and outside of Fred Hutch IT to develop key processes and technologies providing Security Operations and Engineering capabilities and foundations, including vulnerability identification, incident response and investigations. Youll be pivotal in engagement between IT and Information Security teams regarding incident response, vulnerability identification and management as well as responding to any potential or realized threats to Fred Hutch information and technology assets. This position will require a proven personnel and technical leader, with a strong ability to collaborate and execute in complex technical and organizational environments. This leadership position will be a highly visible technical security authority and a key leadership representative of the Information Security team. The security operations and engineering function not only drives operational monitoring of key defensive security controls, but also provides routine, key feedback to security architecture as well as IT and other organizational asset owners. This role will help develop and direct technical security strategy and addresses critical technical operational controls in our cloud, hybrid and on-prem environments for the purposes of providing consistent incident response and operational response capabilities.
Consistently moving the security needle with key project, process and engineering teams through the Fred Hutch environment requires strong communication, collaboration and technical security skill sets. You will be a key and trusted advisor as well as a seasoned influencer and evangelist who can anticipate emerging technical challenges and successfully engage directly with multiple teams within Fred Hutch as well as key partners outside of the organization. You will be closely supported by the Information Security Senior Director, Information Security team and peer organizations, but will have the freedom to develop the Security Operations and Engineering function using your unique blend of technical leadership skills and experience.
