The Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life prepares Tufts students to become active citizens and community leaders. As the only university-wide college of its kind, its mission is to engage Tufts students in meaningful community building, public service experiences, and transformational learning. It conducts groundbreaking research on young people's civic and political participation, and forges innovative community partnerships. Provides advanced support and coordination for Global First-Year programs including the Tufts 1+4 Bridge Year program and Tufts Civic Semester. Serves as a resource for all student participants during all facets of the programs. Produces a variety of documents, reports and proposals, responds to inquiries and provides monthly newsletters to parents and students. Organizes and maintains files and databases; designs and updates applications or other forms for data entry, and coordinates systems for admissions processes. Assist in updating website and posting social media material. Participates in development of program marketing, recruitment and outreach with potential participants and their families, and communications materials. Coordinate alumni engagement, conduct site visits as needed, and assist with emergency or crisis situations including during off-hours and weekends. Coordinates all program logistics including meetings, program events, trainings, retreats and orientations. Provides research assistance. Conduct monthly check-ins with student participants and serve as on-site contact for staff. This position reports to the Tisch Global First-Year Programs Manager and is a member of the Tisch College Program's team.
Knowledge and skills as typically acquired by completing Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of related office experience
2 years experience in the realm of global civic education
Experience with secondary or higher education students.
Experience related to civic engagement, nonprofits, NGO's, or service learning.
International program experience
Understanding of best practices and principles in the fields of civic and global engagement
Strong oral and written communication skills
Social media skills across a variety of platforms
Proven ability to foster meaningful relationships with students as a mentor and educator
Knowledge of college student development
Experience with international travel requirements, such as visas
Ability to collaborate with a diverse population of students, faculty, partners, and staff.
Strong organizational and administrative skills, with ability to multi-task and address competing priorities
Current US passport
Available to work some evenings and weekends.
Able to travel domestically and internationally
Computer skills: Microsoft Office
Minimum of 3 years' experience in the realm of global civic education
Professional experience in student affairs or admissions
Experience in a highly selective liberal arts environment
Comfort with and understanding of traditional and emerging technologies to support innovative pedagogical approach.
Video editing skills
Spanish language skills
