The purpose of the Consultant, Business Development position is to lead the development and execution of a vibrant organizational policy and plan that nurtures collaboration and builds partnerships in line with CORE Group’s mission, key values and beliefs. The Consultant, Business Development will follow guidance provided in the CORE Group 2019-2021 Strategic Plan to develop partnerships and to seek and apply for funding that enhances CORE Group’s mission, supports its membership, and strengthens the role of civil society in ending preventable child and maternal deaths. S/he will bring innovation to the strategic thinking process and assist the Executive Director to strengthen CORE Group as a fiscally and programmatically sound membership association that nurtures collaboration among CORE members and a diverse array of partners.
General responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
Assist Executive Director (ED) and Board of Directors to implement CORE Group’s strategic plan to achieve our mission of improving and expanding community health practices for underserved populations, especially women and children, through collaborative action and
Develop a partnership base for fundraising activities. Assist in the development of a fundraising strategy. Develop a comprehensive business development strategy for corporate and foundation engagement with CORE
Consistently track funding opportunities and apply for grants for CORE Group. Engage in dialogue with CORE Group members and other partners about business development opportunities. Create new partnerships to foster business development with CORE Group and its members.
Develop a resource development plan to strengthen the role of civil society in ending preventable child and maternal deaths, building on the key competencies of CORE Group to foster partnerships and learning. Carry out the plan, including concept development, outreach, proposal development and follow-up.
Develop proposals through design and/or technical writing; lead the proposal process to ensure all documents are ready for submission
Participate in business development meetings with CORE Group Board of Directors, outside partners, and CORE Group staff
Conduct other activities as requested by the Executive Director
Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Marketing, Masters in Public Health or International Affairs, or related field
At least 5-7 years of experience in resource development with proven track record of cultivating partnerships across organizations and raising funds from diverse donors, including USAID; Strong history of successful business development in global health
Technical skills in global health or community health an asset;
In-depth experience with international civil society organizations
Ability to work under pressure with flexibility in a team setting
Excellent writing, oral communications and presentation skills in English
Excellent cross-cultural and collaborative skills
Innovative thinker that thinks creatively highly desired
