Purchased is a growing nonprofit focused on preventing and supporting victims of human trafficking in Indiana. Over the last 10 years, Purchased has developed a supportive following and has been innovative in its program offerings and support services. As we look to the next 10 years and beyond, we are seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead our organization during the next phase of our growth.
A successful Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our organization. In this role, the Executive Director will ensure organizational alignment and efficiency, cultivate donor relationships, build community awareness and ultimately help our organization define and achieve our goals over the next 10+ years.
Fundraising – 40% - Engage the board, staff, supporters and other stakeholders to raise visibility and attract the financial resources required to sustain and grow the organization. Responsibilities include:
Develops and executes development strategy for sustainability and growth looking for creative avenues to increase funds raised
Supports and contributes to the cultivation of donor relationships through research, networking and proactive outreach
Identifies and leads grant application processes
Drives communication and marketing plans a strategy to raise awareness of Purchased, its mission and key ways to support
Be a visible, active and well-respected leader in the community
Organizational Leadership – 30% - Oversees and implements appropriate processes, resources and strategies to ensure efficient, effective operations to achieve annual goals and set the organization up for continued success. Responsibilities include:
Establishes best practices for formal documentation, policies, procedures, communications and metrics
Hires, evaluate and oversees organization staff, as appropriate; maintains personnel records
Manage Marketing and development staff
Builds a collaborative positive working environment that motivates and encourages staff to participate fully in the mission of the organization.
Grow and engage volunteer base as organization grows
Establish and maintain positive relationships with key partners of the organization
Serve as spokesperson for the organization
Organizational Management, Reporting and Measurement – 20% - Oversees the financial aspects of the organization in compliance with all relevant laws and best practices. Also responsible for establishing and tracking to key metrics that demonstrate organizational impact and financial acumen on a monthly basis for Board or grant needs Responsibilities include:
Recommend annual budgets for Board approval
Manage organization’s resources within the approved budget and make modifications for Board approval as appropriate
Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and fiscal practices of non-profit corporation
Donation tracking and implementation
Tracking towards goals and demonstration of impact
Establishing dashboards for year-to-date progress and goal tracking
Board Governance – 10% - Support Board operations by advising and informing Board members and interfacing between Board and staff including:
Maintain effective Board relationships; participate in Board recruitment and onboarding
Support Board in visioning and strategic planning
Accountable for setting meeting agendas
Education and Experience
Minimum Bachelor’s degree is required; advanced degree preferred in Public Administration or similar program.
Five years or more of previous non-profit management experience or comparable experience in the for-profit sector.
Previous supervisory experienced required.
Solid, hands-on budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting.
Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
Ability to connect the day-to-day activities with the vision and mission of the organization to staff, board, volunteers and donors.
Deep understanding of development strategies and experience with donor relations.
Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Experience in fundraising, grant writing, donor relations and/or development required
