Integral member of Annual Giving and Membership teams, responsible for implementing strategy to acquire and maintain a broad base of donors. Manage various revenue-generating efforts with direct responsibility for approximately $200,000; team responsibility of approximately $3M. Coordinate monthly Annual Fund renewal process, in-house mailings, select direct mail, recurring gifts program and Board Friends efforts. Oversee ADOPT and Wish List programs, including revenue, expense and marketing. Provide customer service to members and donors as a primary contact for Annual Fund and Membership hotlines.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Manage monthly Annual Fund renewal appeal efforts for Donor Club-level donors ($365+), to include both paper mail and e-renewals.
Coordinate in-house mailings for current and prospective Donor Club donors, including lapsed mailings, prospect solicitations and incremental campaigns. Collaborate with Development Directors for list review and systematic documentation.
Manage recurring gift program, including solicitations, acknowledgments, marketing, web presence, policies, expanding breadth of program, and coordination with multiple internal teams.
Manage and grow Wish List program. Oversee list theme and copy development, marketing, website updates, and sales tracking.
Manage, plan and execute ADOPT an Animal efforts, including short and long term program strategy, revenue and expense planning, promotion and advertising. Maintain and update ADOPT materials including fact sheets, premiums and photos; responsible for ADOPT fulfillment.
Ably execute Raiser’s Edge queries, exports and reports, and conduct analyses based on this information. Maintain thorough documentation of actions, appeals and proposals in Raiser’s Edge.
In coordination with the Senior Director of Annual Giving, manage all aspects of annual Board Friends campaign, including direct communication with members of the Board of Trustees, development of solicitation strategies, copy development, appeal execution, tracking and reporting.
Steward Annual Fund donors through various channels, including: assisting Director of Annual Giving with Donor Club donor stewardship; routine acknowledgment phone calls, management of Annual Fund welcome packets and Donor Club acknowledgment fulfillment.
Attend and assist with donor, member and Development special events.
Serve as a primary contact for the Annual Fund and Membership hotlines and email inboxes, answer Annual Giving, membership and ADOPT questions, and process donations received over the phone.
Assist Associate Director of Membership with biannual Direct Mail acquisition efforts, as needed.
Assist as necessary with other mailings, events and duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Advanced working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge fundraising database.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills.
Professional and enthusiastic demeanor and commitment to the zoo’s mission; comfortable interacting with a variety of donors and key stakeholders.
Strong project management skills, with proven ability to manage multiple concurrent time-sensitive projects; initiative and independence in carrying out responsibilities.
Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, including the manipulation of Excel spreadsheets and Word mail merges.
Broad understanding of fundraising and marketing practices and principles.
Ability to traverse zoo grounds to facilitate tours, greet visitors, coordinate meetings; operate and safely drive electric carts.
Ability and willingness to work development department events as required, including evening, weekend and early morning hours.
Willingness to keep abreast of trends in the Annual Giving profession, through on-line training, reading publications, and memberships in professional organizations.
Includes some minimal physical labor required for transporting items on-grounds.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college.
Minimum of two years experience in annual giving campaigns, fundraising or similar nonprofit environment.
