The Development Manager, Prospect Research & Management develops and maintains Goodwill’s Individual Corporate and Foundation prospect management system. This role is crucial to the organization’s success in its ability to identify, cultivate and steward relationships to engage donor support. Additionally, the Development Manager is instrumental in building relationships with the donor base across the region. The Development Manager, Prospect Research & Management works with the entire development team and reports to the Vice President of Development.
Provide strategic direction for and supervise background research and new prospect identification.
Create donor/prospect management system.
Manage donor prospect identification, research and cultivation processes with other fundraising staff and Board of Directors
Responsible for overseeing and maintaining Goodwill’s development database; generate and manage donor reports
Assist in completing foundation proposals, reports and requests for supplementary information
Assist with reporting and tracking to support the Vice President of Development in budget projections
Serve as an advisor to the entire Development team including the Vice President and President.
Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Nonprofit Management or related field preferred
3+ years experience in prospect research or prospect development lead role
Prior experience managing prospect management systems and databases
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across a variety of mediums (in person, phone and electronic-based) with the ability to develop professional and business partnerships
Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with diverse group of individuals from a variety of educational, social and economic backgrounds
Respects and has knowledge of cultures, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientations and age groups other than one’s own, able to work effectively with all
Strong analytical ability, problem solving skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize and work well under the pressure of deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously
Exercise good judgment with the ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
Possess a professional demeanor, poise under pressure, and well developed time management skills
Proficient with intermediate to advanced tasks within Microsoft Office Suite and various cloud based office applications
Knowledge of complex databases and online search tools; ability to manage and manipulate large amounts of data
Proven ability to take initiative and execute on new ideas
