The Director of Development for Institutional Giving manages corporate and foundation relations for Goodwill SFSMM by developing strategies to secure new funding relationships and maintaining relationships with existing funders. The Director oversees the Institutional Giving Program and is a leader in the implementation of Goodwill’s strategic plan, identifying and articulating Goodwill’s goals and objectives and translating those into fundraising opportunities. The Director reports to the VP of Development and works closely with the Development staff.
Create, implement and manage a comprehensive institutional fundraising plan to meet goals
Develop, prepare and submit formal fundraising proposals to institutional prospects and effectively bring proposals to successful closure
Work closely with the VP of Development to identify, cultivate and solicit new foundation support; develop specific strategies and timelines for approaching new prospects
Monitor progress towards fundraising goals; intervene to adjust strategies or implement new strategies as needed
Proactively develop efforts to engage foundation executives and their boards, serving as a point of contact for foundation relations
Working with Prospect Research & Management, design and create a new Stewardship system
Liaise with Mission Advancement for timely and accurate grant opening
Support cultivation events as needed
Maintain accurate database records for Institutional Giving
Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Nonprofit Management or related field preferred
5 years related work experience in development / institutional giving programs for non-profit organizations

Excellent interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums (in person, phone and electronic-based)
Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with diverse group of individuals from a variety of educational, social and economic backgrounds

High proficiency with intermediate to advanced tasks within Microsoft Office Suite applications and various cloud based office applications
