Department Information: In the 2017 Reuters Top 100: The World's Most Innovative Universities, IU ranked in the top 20 universities in the U.S. and top 30 worldwide. The successful candidate will participate in building relationships to support IU's Grand Challenges Program, designed to tackle large-scale, complex problems across all communities requiring collaborations with IU's preeminent researchers spanning all industries—business, government, and nonprofit. The Assistant Director of Corporate Relations will participate in planning and implementing development plans to fulfill this mission, providing related leadership on the IUPUI campus in support of IU's historic $3 billion For All: The Indiana University Bicentennial Campaign. Job Summary: Indiana University seeks a corporate relations professional to join an innovative, ambitious, and successful team as Assistant Director. The Assistant Director will act as a liaison and resource to IU researchers and development directors by providing, overseeing, and administering corporate relation services. The incumbent will maintain relationships with prospects through phone and email; will organize site visits for donors and prospects; will work closely with CR team to ensure the timely delivery of pertinent research to support corporate approaches; and will assist Executive Director in managing support packages and pursuing opportunities for support. In concert with Executive Director, the AD will assist in proposal development in partnership with school officers and executive directors, and assist in creating and implementing stewardship plans for top corporate donors. The incumbent will assist university faculty and staff on questions of corporate funding; coordinate responses to requests from university centers or departments; and meet with new faculty to gather information about their research and determine potential alignment with industry. The individual in this position is expected to maintain high ethical standards and retain the trust of colleagues (both internal and external). This position reports to the Executive Director of Corporate Relations (CR). Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree, plus 2 years experience in fundraising, preferably in higher education and/or corporate environment. Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Must have knowledge of current fundraising trends and techniques; enhanced interpersonal skills (ability to work with alumni, faculty, and staff in a collegial manner); the ability to simultaneously manage several ongoing projects; and working familiarity with large databases, personal computers and word processing. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality. Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Travel is required.
