The Business Development Manager partners with the VP of Market Growth and Innovation to grow and diversify sources of industry-funded patient and clinician education projects, data analytics which align with CHEST’s strategic priorities.
This role cultivates and leverages key collaborative relationships that deliver on CHEST’s mission and strengthens its financial stability. Significantly contribute to a team of professionals to represent CHEST patient and clinician education programs to targeted industry companies. Work as part of a high functioning team that innovates and supports each member’s overall performance in an effort to exceed division and organizational goals.

Meet/exceed Market Growth and Innovation division’s goals, including driving in excess of $2.5 million in revenue generation for CHEST data and educational products.
CHEST has a currently defined universe of Tier 1 – 4 industry partners (pharma, biotech, and med device) that are current, former, and/or projected future industry partners who provide funding to CHEST for various educational projects. This role will serve as primary contact and account manager with a select group of these partners. As the key contact/account manager/BD lead for these partners, role is responsible for developing and growing strong relationships with key cross-functional contacts (marketing, medical, advocacy, market research, etc.) within these organizations.
Represent CHEST entities at a tactical and programmatic level on key alliances with other organizations that position CHEST for revenue growth opportunities.
Responsible for prospecting, proposal development, proposal execution, presentations and agreements related to patient and clinician education projects.
Coordinate with project management team for final contracting of various industry-supported programs.
Collaborate with colleagues across the CHEST Staff to develop and propose fundable and sustainable lung health-related patient and clinician education projects; partner with colleagues to ensure successful execution and fulfillment of funded projects.
Complete other tasks and projects as assigned.
Preferred\ Qualifications and Competencies
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of directly relevant experience.
Experience and/or understanding of patient and clinician education product offerings strongly preferred
Prior experience in a medical association, specifically with or in, business development.
Experience working with corporate and industry supporters, non-profit partners and volunteers to enhance engagement, build relationships and achieve/exceed revenue goals.

Competent in Microsoft Office tools, database technology, and digital communication tools such as e-mail, web, social media
Ability to accommodate up to 25% travel
Experience in/with the pharmaceutical industry
