Location: Boston Main Campus Division/College: College of Professional Studies FT/PT: Full Time Position Summary: Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Professional Programs in the College of Professional Studies, the Director of the Lowell Institute School leads the School's mission of providing adults in the New England region with an education that prepares them for the jobs of the 21st century in science, technology, and engineering. The Lowell Institute School opens the doors of opportunity to motivated students by providing flexible learning options—in the classroom and online—to support adult learners who are balancing life, work and education. Focused on employability and career advancement, the Lowell Institute School connects adult learners to the increasing demand of employers throughout greater Boston and the New England region for STEM-based talent with up-to-the-minute capabilities and training. The School exemplifies Northeastern's commitment to experiential education throughout the student life cycle, from course assignments that address current industry challenges to opportunities for experiential projects with employers, co-operative education placements, and innovative educational experiences delivered entirely in the workplace and co-designed with employers. The Director of the Lowell Institute School at Northeastern University will be a network leader with a passion for connecting adult learners with the needs of employers and the instructional resources of an ambitious, innovative research university. S/he will work with employers across New England to identify their critical skills gaps; with academic leaders and faculty members in Northeastern's College of Professional Studies to design and implement innovative, stackable degree and non-degree educational programs meeting the needs of both employers and students; and with regional schools and nonprofit institutions to recruit and support cohorts of adult learners. The Director will be assisted by dedicated School staff in designing student experiences that motivate and advance adult learners; will work with marketing, recruiting and communication resources in the College of Professional Studies to spread the School's message of opportunity to regional and national audiences; will develop plans for drawing on the generous gift that founded the Lowell Institute School in support of student scholarships and instructional facilities; and will work with the Dean and the Senior Associate Dean of the College to develop additional philanthropic investments to extend the School's impact.
