SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT, ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE (AR) , Office of the Vice President for Finance-Controller , to process billing and generate invoices for assigned departments, labs, and centers. Will serve as key AR-related contact, resolving inquiries and guiding users through VPF's invoicing process; retrieve daily credit card reports and post payments; coordinate employee payroll deductions and post to receivable accounts; handle monthly AR close process including reconciliation of the AR sub-ledger to the general ledger; prepare monthly reconciliation of assigned high-volume accounts; prepare complex schedules to support internal and external financial reporting, including those related to the quarterly close process; close the quarterly student note receivables; coordinate and provide input to MIT Information Systems and Technology on projects affecting the Institute's accounting and financial systems; participate in testing new SAP reports and functionalities; make requests for payment and send checks to customers; collect and monitor aging accounts; provide back-up for accounting staff overseeing benefits accounts; and perform other duties as needed.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) in finance or related field; at least three years'; experience in accounting or finance operations and one year providing customer service; ability to complete assigned tasks independently and constructively contribute to team efforts, adhere to strict deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment; meticulous attention to detail; high-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; discretion with confidential information/issues; receptivity to learning new business methods and computational skills; demonstrated record of assuming greater responsibility over time; and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with SAP and financial administration experience in a university, hospital, or nonprofit organization preferred. Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary.
