TheCollege and Career Intervention Coordinator will build out the curriculum and implement a grant funded intervention to strengthen the school engagement, and college and career preparation of students at-risk for drop-out. This involves building relationships with participating schools, businesses, and non-profits, college and career access organizations and implementing the intervention with selected students in participating schools.
The College and Career Intervention Coordinator position is full-time and reports directly Dr. Micere Keels at the University of Chicago and indirectly to the CPS office of Innovation and Incubation.
This is a full-time, primarily 8am -4pm position, with occasional evenings and weekends.
This is a one-year, renewable position based on satisfactory performance and continued grant funding.
Develop the curriculum and intervention components in alignment with the intervention model
Establish a productive relationships with administrators, counselors/college advisors, and teachers at participating schools
Increase college and career options for students by implementing key strategies that align with the intervention model
Outreach to businesses and nonprofits to build job shadowing/internship opportunities for students
Implement the curriculum with students in participating schools
Organize and conduct business, nonprofit, and college and career speaker and learning events/tours
Collect and analyze data as needed to guide program direction and emphasis
Monitor student academic and post secondary planning progress and on-track status, as well as behavioral progress
Write quarterly project reports that meet specifications set by the program funder
Possesses an unyielding commitment to continuous improvement and an unwavering belief that all students can achieve at high levels
Possesses the knowledge, principles and practices of academic and college/career development
Maintains the ability to establish effective working relationships with students and parents; school, network and central office staff; and representatives from universities, businesses, government and community-based organizations
Strong self-organization and self-direction with identifying and completing tasks to meet milestones
Strong communicator: speaking, listening and writing
Demonstrates a sense of urgency in accomplishing goals and objectives to ensure success
Planning and budgeting capabilities
Ability to develop and maintain partnerships
Must have a car, valid driverâ™s license, and availability to work occasional evenings and weekends
Education, Experience, or Certifications
Bachelorâ™s Degree in a related field required
Masterâ™s degree preferred
4 years of youth development and programming experience in high schools
3 years of college and career planning and advancement related work experience in high schools
Technical Knowledge or Skills:
Proficient in Windows Operating System and MS Office; strong internet skills
