The Assistant Director assists in identifying, cultivating and soliciting of alumni, parents, and friends of the University capable of making gifts of $100,000 or more.
This position is located in Northwestern’s New York Regional Office in New York City.
Administers & maintains existing strategic plans including presenting a persuasive verbal and written case to prospects for supporting key programs and projects, effectively matching the interests of prospects to specific needs.
Involves moderate level of collaboration with internal department partners and low level of collaboration with University partners in implementing and expanding existing relationships to accomplish strategic goals.

Prospects & Gifts
Implements strategies, goals & approaches to close major gifts.
Partners with other areas of development, specifically Annual & Planned Giving to coordinate contacts.
Identifies, researches & personally solicits major gifts by managing a portfolio of prospects.
Completes associated stewardship activities.
Maintains up-to-date best practices and evaluates closed prospects.
Recommends changes to ensure successful completion of objectives & goals.
Requires travel throughout the region or country.
Reviews the prospect pool and develops relationships by submitting proposals to prospective donors.
Tracks & documents progress and associated notes.
Prepares contact reports on meetings and interactions with alumni.
Supervises or leads part-time, temporary, and/or work/study employee.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, marketing or equivalent or 2 years equivalent experience in development function.
2 years development, marketing, sales or the equivalent experience is required.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Organization, detail oriented, able to take verbal/oral instruction
Fundraising experience in higher education or other nonprofit setting is preferred
