Job Requisition Number: 26230. Berkeley’s Career Center plays a critical role in preparing students for graduation and beyond. The Center helps undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent alumni make informed decisions about their futures by providing comprehensive resources, programs, career counseling, externships and internships, and employment and professional /graduate school options – whether they are building upon a liberal arts education, leveraging their academic preparation in business or engineering, envisioning a future in medicine, or seeking a career in the corporate or nonprofit workforce.
•Provide direct service to current students and recent alum in the form of career counseling in particularly complex areas that require specialized expertise for the following constituencies: the College of Letters and Science, College of Engineering, College of Chemistry, College of Natural Resources, College of Environmental Design, the Haas School of Business, Pre-Med/Pre-Health, International Students, PhD and Postdocs, all requiring expert guidance on translating their skills into various industries or helping them plan and apply for graduate and professional programs. Help students identify their interests, values, skills, and personalities, and understand how these factors relate to academic/career satisfaction and choices; Uses standard quantitative and qualitative assessments to help clients assess career goals. •Research, design, and develop workshops and programs to meet students' and alumni's career needs. Develop and oversee delivery of broad and complex career-focused programs and events that incorporate the needs of campus partners and constituents. •Establish new relationships on campus and with corporations and other organizations related to career opportunities for specific constituencies. Promote partnerships and enhance the campus's relationship with outside organizations. •Utilize career center software systems, and applies current technologies to enhance service delivery, including online resources. Research, evaluate, and update specialized, online career resources. Utilizes knowledge of constituency needs to create and improve specialized content for the Career Center website.•Advanced knowledge of career readiness competencies, career development theories, adult development theory, counseling processes, career self-assessment and decision making, learning styles, and job search techniques. •Knowledge of needs assessment theory, processes, and practice, workshop and program design. •Knowledge of UC programs, career services, employer, alumni, and faculty needs and expectations, recruiting and staffing methods, employment trends. •Ability to work with people from diverse cultures. •Knowledge of Career Center eligibility standards and policies regarding use of recruiting and job listing, and alumni services, and Career Center's proprietary record keeping software and Handshake, our Career Management software. •Demonstrated capacity to successfully engage a population of highly diverse students across a broad range of complex counseling issues in a top tier, academic research setting. •Ability to plan and design effective events and programs to meet constituency needs. •Strong communication skills – writing, presentation and interpersonal. •Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and expectations of constituencies. •Advanced degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
