The Manager of Database Operations delivers primary support for the organization’s association management system (iMIS) and also provides leadership and guidance to the organization’s end-users by serving as a liaison between the organization’s staff and their technology requirements. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for working various business units to execute many operational functions involving the iMIS platform. This position is also expected play a key role in the continuous administration, utilization, and management of the technology while also leading and/or facilitating processes that drive technology investment decisions. Working with the organization’s external service providers, this position will also provide support for key projects and initiatives prioritized to meet organizational goals.
This position will have primary responsibility for the organization’s production databases and will be the primary resource for supporting the design and implementation of reports and other similar requests from staff in coordination, where appropriate, with external service providers.
This position will also ensure proper documentation is maintained to elucidate critical database and application information, while also supporting the development and enforcement of relevant policies and procedures to maintain the integrity of the infrastructure.
Essential Job Functions
Perform database administrator (DBA) functions such as building infrastructure for database provisioning, monitoring, backup management, performance tuning, security, customer support for troubleshooting, data normalization, performance tuning, and database optimization.
Design, manage and implement database maintenance plans including backups and data integrity checks
Establish and implement protocols and best practices to ensure the integrity, accuracy and completeness of the database tables, and resulting reports.
Make recommendations for continuous improvements and optimization of the iMIS database environment.
Provide primary support and serve as the liaison to relevant external ASGE service providers. This includes participating in regular meetings, providing guidance and direction, coordinating and evaluating solutions, and contributing to implementation efforts.
Participate in the review and evaluation of service provider relationships, proposals, contracts and agreements.
Support the configuration and utilization of iMIS Rise modules
Initiate efforts to establish data quality processes and best practices, and lead efforts to improve the quality of data
Develop reports and queries using Microsoft SSRS/SQL
Maintain and provide support for existing database connections/interfaces to third party software solutions integrating with iMIS; Provide support for new interfaces that may be developed in the future.
Serve as a subject matter expert and support initiatives to support and achieve ongoing automation and process optimization efforts including PCI compliance, cash application automation, and other similar projects
Provide input and support for ASGE events, which may include pre-work or onsite support during the event.
Maintain appropriate communications with all ASGE staff to deliver excellent IT support and service and, where appropriate, to provide training on the use of technology solutions
Maintain documentation and archives to continuously capture, catalog and inventory, and/or explain the current state of the product database tables, routines, jobs and processes.
Strong understanding of IT network infrastructure components demonstrated by 5+ years of related experience managing iMIS database system or similar association management systems.
Demonstrated expertise in SQL, including creating SQL queries, SQL views and stored procedures.
Strong project management skills to support leading projects from initiation and planning through testing and implementation.
Well-developed and professional verbal communication skills with all levels of staff, including the ability to describe complex technical processes to non-technical people
Good written communication skills to present relevant information to management, vendors and other stakeholders
Consistently convey a professional attitude, demeanor, appearance and approach.
Must prioritize delivering an excellent customer service experience for end users and other ASGE constituents
