The Mathematics Tutorial Assistant will primarily be responsible for assisting with reformatting, revising, and editing course content, assessments, and materials for Honors Algebra and Honors Precalculus courses or editing Moodle settings for any courses in the online math program. Work hours vary and are flexible; including weekends and evenings as determined with supervisor.
NOTE: This position is not benefits eligible.
Responsible for updating online course materials in Moodle, which include reformatting and revising assessments such as questions and feedback on quizzes, chapter tests, review sheets, and cumulative exams for AP Calculus C.
Generating images with software such as GeoGebra, and wolphram alpha will be required.
Update online course materials.
Assist in the maintenance of CTY Online Programs math courses.
Transcribe written assessments using LaTex and post to assignments Moodle.
Generate accessible images with software such as GeoGebra and Wolfram Alpha to supplement existing questions and solutions.
Under the guidance of the supervisor, the incumbent will review written content to ensure curriculum aligns with Common Core standards.
Revise and reformat existing course content in Moodle, such as questions and feedback on quizzes, tests, and projects.
Move questions into different categories in Moodle.
Create and organize labels in Moodle courses.
Update settings in quizzes and categories in Moodle.
Update course documents to reflect program changes and comply with accessibility standards.
Submit hours worked via established system according to schedule provided by CTY.

High school diploma/GED required.
Successful completion of Calculus course.
Must have knowledge of content for Honors Algebra 2 and Honors Precalculus courses.
Experience working as a tutor or teaching assistant for at least one semester is required.
Advancement toward a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field preferred.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university is highly preferred.
Required Special Skills and Knowledge:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; positive, proactive, and professional written and verbal communication skills using various technologies is critical.
Familiarity with online course management systems - Moodle environment is preferred.
Knowledge of LaTeX, Respondus, basic html, and Adobe.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficiency with Gmail-related Google Apps.
Ability to find and use free online tools related to each course.
Must be student-oriented and detail oriented.
Strong background and interest in mathematics.
Computer or Other Special Needs for this Position:
Must have a computer with broadband Internet access.
Familiarity with Online education technologies a plus, such as Moodle, Adobe Connect.
Physical Requirements for the Job:
Ability to sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.
Dexterity of hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse pad and other office machinery.
The incumbent will be required to communicate regularly via telephone and face to face with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate and timely information in these settings.
Position also requires a degree of mobility common to working in an office environment; bending, kneeling or standing during events and presentations may be required.
Applicant must be authorized to work in the US and must live in the US or another area in which JHU/CTY has a business entity.
