Upper Iowa University (UIU), located in Fayette, Iowa, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO reports to Dr. William R Duffy, President, is a member of the President’s Council and works closely with the Board of Trustees. The CFO will assume office on or before July 2019.

UIU’s main residential campus is in Fayette, Iowa. The University has also established 21 locations beyond Fayette, six of these locations are on military bases. The UIU locations are in Arizona, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin, and international locations presently in Hong Kong and Malaysia. UIU’s face-to-face, online, and self-paced learning modalities offer a convenient and unique approach for traditional and non-traditional students. This Position is responsible for overall financial operations of the University and promotes the well-being of the University to include financial and operational strategies and metrics tied to the University Strategic Plan. The CFO provides overall leadership and coordination for the following business services staff: Controller, Budget Analyst, Finance Systems Administrator, Executive Director of Facilities, Executive Director of Information Technology, Director of Auxiliary Services, and an Executive Assistant.
The successful candidate will work closely with the President and members of the President’s Council to identify entrepreneurial strategies to support UIU’s academic mission, maintain a sustainable financial model, assure effective and efficient business operations that support the University’s Strategic Plan. A bachelor’s degree is required; a CPA and a master’s degree are preferred. Extensive financial and budget management experience in higher education nonprofit institution with multiple learning modalities is required.
