PheoPara Alliance seeks a dynamic, mission-driven Executive Director to help write the next chapter of this rare disease nonprofit dedicated to empowering and supporting pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma (PPGL) patients and their families. Founded in 2007, the PheoPara Alliance is internationally-recognized for its efforts to raise awareness of PPGL, empowering patients, families, and the medical community through education, advocacy, and a global support network.
Combining forces in 2017 with the patient-centered Pheo Para Troopers, the Alliance has become the go-to source of information for those newly diagnosed or living with PPGL, neuroendocrine tumors that can occur in men or women, young or old, with as many as 1 in 3 cases being malignant. If detected early and treated properly, PPGL can treated and managed in 90 percent of cases. In addition to its awareness and advocacy efforts, the Alliance sponsors key initiatives in data collection, treatment, collaboration, and patient wellness in hopes of accelerating treatments and cures. The Executive Director (ED) will develop and strengthen the Alliance’s footprint, elevating its brand awareness and promoting its philanthropic case for support. Reporting to and working closely with the Alliance’s Board of Directors, the ED will build on the Board’s strategic framework, establishing goals and mapping out timelines and deliverables. An entrepreneurial, roll-up-the sleeves approach is needed in developing and implementing operating and fund development plans that will generate revenue to fund current and future programs.
The ED position offers “geo flexibility” with the option of working remotely anywhere in the US, supported by electronic, audio/video communications, and some travel.
Experience and Qualifications:
Proven non-profit leader, relationship manager, and fund developer with at least five years’ experience in an executive role, preferably in a start-up organization poised for growth.
Strategist and tactician with a data-driven, results orientation, and demonstrated record of employing best practices to ensure success.
Highly motivated self-starter with experience in planning, project management, budgeting, fundraising, marketing, and public and board relations.
Familiarity with medical, research, and scientific environments a plus, as well as grants management.
Superb communicator in spoken and written word who has an authentic comfort serving as the face of the organization.
Ability to motivate individuals, coalesce teams, and inspire confidence and engagement in a mission.
BA/BS in business, nonprofit-management or related field, Master’s preferred.
