The Development Coordinator performs complex and diverse responsibilities in support of Medicine & Biological Sciences Development (MBSD) fundraising teams. S/he facilitates, organizes, and executes a range of fundraising activities from identification to stewardship to ensure the $1.2B campaign is successful. S/he collaborates with colleagues to execute projects with a focus on increasing participation, revenue, and engagement from prospects, donors, volunteers, faculty, and other key constituents. Works with fundraisers to advance giving strategies. All this is done under the direction of the Managing Director, Individual Giving.
Special Note: MBSD is a highly-productive, fast-paced, and growing department. As such, this position requires an individual who is capable of keeping on top of routine day-to-day office operations as well as remaining flexible and able to handle new assignments as priorities shift. The Coordinator works with confidential information relating to individuals within the strategic constituencies and the fundraising strategies of the University; s/he will maintain complete confidence in all these and related matters and situations.
Coordinates logistics of meetings, events, and staff meetings
Proactively schedules all meetings and makes all travel arrangements on behalf of the assigned team.
Understands and practices team strategy and administrative processes to manage volunteers and resources effectively
Provides stewardship services and support, providing the highest level of customer service and seeing projects through to successful completion.
Collects/researches data to support or answer specific questions/topics related to development and volunteer management activity; drafts, proofreads, and creates reports and presentations for the team and the volunteers that they support; develops and implements team procedures and policies.
Composes and edits correspondence and other documents for delivery internally and externally (e.g.,donor acknowledgements, correspondence for leaders and volunteers within the primary strategic constituencies). Proofreads and copy-edits documents such as reports, letters, memos, analyses, etc.
S/he utilizes the fundraising database Griffin to look up and maintain up to date and accurate information and to research information
S/he assists with preparation of the budget, coordinates expenditures, and monitors and reconciles accounts.
Strong verbal and writing skills, high attention to detail and follow-up, and excellent organizational skills required.
Ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting required.
An exceptional work ethic and track record of personal initiative required.
Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills characterized by the ability to listen, to speak, and to write well required.
Flexibility and adaptability to new programs in an emerging and changing environment required
Education and Experience
A Bachelor's degree or higher is required
A minimum of one year of work experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, or similar work required.
Experience with fundraising, contact management or other database software preferred.
Experience working with volunteers preferred.
Experience planning and executing events preferred.
