AVID Center, a nonprofit educational organization, seeks an experienced human resource professional to join its leadership team in San Diego, CA.
Job Description: The Senior Director provides vision, direction, and accountability for all the human resources and organizational development functions in accordance with the policies and practices of AVID, the ethical and social consciences of business and society, and the laws, regulations, and administrative rulings of governmental organizations and other regulatory and advisory authorities and organizations. The Senior Director will also be responsible for the strategic human resource planning to provide the organization with the most talented people and to position the organization as the employer of choice. Duties include but are not limited to:
Provides strategic, functional expertise, thought leadership, and coaching as an active member of the leadership team
Aligns human resource initiatives and talent planning with organizational strategies, mission, values, and goals
Develops human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge, and talent gaps, and develop specific programs to fill the identified gaps
Enhances, develops, implements, and enforces human resource policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization
Creates a culture of congruence, collaboration, community, transparency, balance, accountability, and respect/humility
Is a change agent and helps teams/individuals manage change
Bachelor’s degree in in Human Resources, Management, Organizational Development, or related field
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in human resources and/or talent management, with a significant portion in a compelling leadership role for the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive talent management strategies and improving organizational results
Successful record of effectively advising senior executive teams, leading a human resources team, and establishing high-performance human resource systems
Post-graduate degree in Human Resources, Management, Organizational Development, or related field
SHRM or SPHR certification
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in organizational leadership • Relevant talent management/human resource software familiarity
Multi-state leadership experiences
Allowable Substitutions: Any combination of experience and training that provides the incumbent/applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work, as determined by the AVID Center. Qualifying work experience may substitute for the education requirement.
Additional Salary Information: Additional compensation includes employer-approved performance pay (up to 15% of base), employer contribution to 403(b) of 5% of base, employer contribution to Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability Insurance, plus, other generous benefits.
