The successful candidate will join a growing team of research analysts, and play a key role in developing the universityâ™s capacity for strategic analysis.
The group reports to the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Analysis.
Depending on project needs and candidate experience, responsibilities may include:
Producing descriptive and exploratory data analyses.
Developing sophisticated analytic and predictive models.
Automating processes related to the collection, maintenance, and analysis of data.
Working with colleagues to collect and refine data.
Presenting to audiences across the university.
Self-motivated, curious, with a sense of humor.
Intellectually and methodologically omnivorous, able to synthesize as well as analyze.
Comfortable working independently and within a team.
Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
Capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
Education, Experience or Competencies:
Bachelorâ™s degree required.
Advanced degree, particularly a research-based doctorate, in a quantitative field preferred.
At least two years of quantitative research experience in an academic or business setting. Relevant education may be substituted for work experience.
Technical Knowledge or Skills:
The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas:
Statistical analysis: software packages such as Stata, SPSS, or R; predictive modeling; survey design; policy evaluation; GIS; network analysis.
Programming and âœbig dataâ: experience with scripting and analysis in Python; interest in large datasets and unstructured data; data warehousing; automation; web services; SQL.
Subject matter expertise: organizational behavior; institutional design and incentive structures; the challenges of nonprofit management.
Office productivity software: experience with (or willingness to learn) the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
