Identify and pursue new sources of institutional giving.
Foster an understanding of philanthropy within the organization and work with the board of directors and staff on donor cultivation.
Attend board meetings as well as related board committee meetings, as needed.
Manage and ensure accuracy of fundraising reporting systems and databases.
Represent ChiME at appropriate community and funder meetings.
Performs other tasks as assigned by executive director.
Who we are looking for someone who possesses….
A bachelor’s degree.
Experience in a non-profit development position.
A track record of success in building an individual giving program and producing fundraising events.
Experience and connections with foundations and corporate giving programs.
Experience production grant proposals and reports.
Extensive experience in fund development activities and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent self-management and relationship management skills.
A knowledge of budgeting and basic nonprofit financial systems.
An ability to work with little direct supervision, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and take ownership of the job.
An ability to maintain a high level of follow through and confidentiality.
A sense of humor.

About Chicago Center of Music Education (ChiME)
The Chicago Center for Music Education is a non-profit community music school located in the West Town neighborhood with programs at 10 partner organizations located across Chicago. Of the 1,800 students we serve through our six Chicago Public School partners, approximately 75% of them are from economically disadvantaged families and approximately 50% have diverse learning needs.
Our annual budget exceeds $900,000 with 6 full-time employees and 19 part-time employees. Approximately 35% of our annual income is comprised of restricted and unrestricted contributions from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies. We seek a full-time Development Director to help the organization grow its resources and provide greater access to our programs in the communities we serve.
