The Law School Admission Council is a nonprofit organization devoted to furthering quality, access, and fairness in law school admission by providing the core products and services that candidates and law schools depend upon in the US and around the world. Associate General Counsel
Job Code: AGC – MCCA
Assist the General Counsel and the Office of Legal Affairs in all legal matters in support of LSAC’s operations.
Provide exceptional legal advice and counseling to support LSAC’s dynamic business operations.
Assist the General Counsel in retaining and overseeing outside counsel and litigation in federal and state courts and agencies.
Assist the General Counsel with managing cybersecurity, data and information security and privacy matters.
Manage LSAC intellectual property matters and licensees.
Contract drafting, review and negotiation.
Assist in creating and updating a company-wide compliance and enterprise risk management program.
Assist with updating LSAC document retention and disposal policy.
Assist the General Counsel in a wide variety of other legal matters including but not limited to: legal research and writing, document organization and production, policy development and updating, and related discovery matters in litigation.
Collaborate across all operational areas to problem solve proactively.
Perform such other duties as requested.
Required Education and Experience:
Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
Licensed in good standing to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or eligible for reciprocity on the date hired.
Minimum 5 to 10 years of relevant general corporate, higher education, or in-house legal department or large firm practice, including some background in litigation and working with outside counsel; contracting; data security and privacy and intellectual property.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience implementing an organization-wide contracts management process.
Familiarity with corporate policy making and organizational compliance and risk management.
Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize competing and multiple priorities with calm demeanor and sound judgment.
Possess excellent contract drafting and strategic negotiation skills.
Ability to make sound and independent judgments and make recommendations on a wide variety of contract matters.
