The CALS Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides expert support to the CALS community. CALS OIT is composed of two major teams, Systems & Operations, and Administrative Computing. The Systems & Operations team provides client and server support to enhance the teaching, research and outreach capabilities of the college. Administrative Computing enhances the academic mission and business processes through the use of decision support systems and sophisticated financial and administrative reporting systems. This position will collaborate with members of both teams to design and complete projects on behalf of a wide variety of stakeholders within the college including academic and service units.
What you will do:
As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of a project from conception to completion. You will design projects and delegate responsibilities, ensuring work is completed properly by established deadlines and within budget constraints. Additionally, you will:
Provide project management for the design, development, production, and support of IT projects.
Lead and manage scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk, and procurement for assigned projects, including change management. Communicate project scope, goals and responsibilities to staff.
Establish clear customer expectations, and requirements of varying degrees of complexity, some of which may require significant discovery and analysis.
Identify and analyze client needs and requirements; design detailed specifications; develop project plans and gain formal approval on plans from all stakeholders; collaborate with resource managers to estimate project resource requirements; direct project teams; exercise stakeholder management across diverse constituencies; document project outcomes and invested resources; ensure assets are archived appropriately.
Develop innovative and creative solutions.
Develop and modify internal processes and procedures to improve process, project management, and communication methods.
Assess and manage issues; prioritize and drive resolution of all issues associated with low to medium complexity projects. Make procedural recommendations as needed and implement new processes with stakeholders and staff.
Who you will be:
You will be an organized and innovative leader in technology that ensures that strategic projects are delivered on-time and within defined budget restrictions. Additionally, you will have:
A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field with 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A solid understanding of project management skills, tools, techniques, and formal approaches. This includes significant experience with Windows, client-server architectures, web/standard desktop applications, and project management tools such as MS Project.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This includes skills in facilitation, conflict management, change management, negotiation, consensus building, and relationship management skills. Must have demonstrated an ability to convey technical information to others of varying levels of technical knowledge and responsibility. Must have a proven track record of establishing credibility rapidly, effectively establishing critical relationships with clients, directors, managers and project team members
Demonstrated analytical skills. You will be able to listen carefully to key stakeholders, gather requirements, and translate their needs into a concrete action plan.
Demonstrated skills and experience in budgeting and estimating.
Demonstrated ability to remain focused while working in a fast-paced, deadline driven and demanding customer-oriented environment.
Proven leadership experience where you have inspired and motivated teams.

Prior work experience in a higher education or other nonprofit environments
PMP Certification or demonstrated progress to obtain it
