The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) is seeking a Fundraising Campaign Specialist for the Chicago, IL office. The Fundraising Campaign Specialist will work as part of the Advancement events team on all aspects of developing, planning, implementing and executing a fundraising campaign. The Fundraising Campaign Specialist will oversee the volunteer fundraising events (3rd parties) program and the various campaign pushes associated with volunteer fundraising events including, but not limited to, Casual For a Cause, Brain Freeze, Point-of-Purchase, Brain Games and Cause Marketing. We are looking for someone with exceptional customer service skills who is a team player and dedicated to meeting and exceeding fundraising revenue goals and further advancing the mission of the ABTA.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of volunteer fundraising campaign and its various revenue avenues
Ensure revenue goals are attained by partnering with ABTA leadership to identify, recruit, manage and steward fundraising volunteers
Identify, cultivate and steward campaign volunteers/donors/participants by developing and implementing campaign appropriate strategies and relationship cultivation activities for successful recruitment, acknowledgement and retention of volunteers/donors/participants
Manage and adhere to campaign timelines and budgets by tracking revenue and expenses associated with campaign
Provide input into the development of a strategic plan for the campaign, including fundraising goals, budget recommendations and timelines
Evaluate the effectiveness of the on-going campaign(s), including community engagement, volunteer satisfaction and overall success of the campaign(s)
Develop positive fundraising volunteer interactions through recruitment, mentoring, and providing comprehensive support for volunteer leadership and participants to develop and achieve personal fundraising plans, while focusing on the mission of ABTA
Identify and network with corporations, community groups, schools, and key donors to engage their support in ABTA fundraising campaign(s)
Work with marketing to develop marketing materials (brochures, recruitment, promotional flyers, pledge forms, etc) to promote the campaign(s)
Maintain a working knowledge of the ABTA’s mission and programs to promote the ABTA’s fundraising, research, and patient initiatives
Represent ABTA at volunteer fundraising events with up to 25% travel, as needed
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Bachelor's degree required
2+ years of nonprofit experience, with an emphasis on fundraising and customer service
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
Self-motivated, organized and willing to help with any project large or small
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with varying timelines and deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, participants and other supporters
High degree of creativity, responsibility, initiative, and professionalism
Ability to function as a dependable project manager and team player
Preferred experience with program related software including, but not limited to: Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, and Microsoft Office Suite
Required work evenings and weekends as necessary
Work environment may involve moderate risks or discomforts, which require special safety precautions (e.g., automobile and airplane travel). This position may require up to 25% travel. Additionally, while performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Work requires some physical strain such as long periods of sitting and walking while handling company business. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, including boxes of ABTA literature and supplies for various events. Specific vision abilities required by the job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
