EDUCAUSE (http://www.educause.edu), a highly creative, entrepreneurial, national nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology, invites applications for the position of Cloud Computing Technologist to support the Association. This is a full-time, non-exempt position located in the Louisville, CO office. Pay is commensurate with experience.
In this role, you will lead effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure, especially in the cloud. You will lend your expertise in technical research and evaluation to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. You will ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems and related procedures adhere to standards in supporting EDUCAUSE staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Install and configure systems such as supports for desktop and server management infrastructure applications.
Upgrade and configure system software. Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
Research and recommend innovative, and, where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
Engage in appropriate professional development to assure that the office is up-to-date by current professional standards. Remain informed of current and developing trends in Microsoft systems, solutions, and tools.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
Verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes through daily system monitoring; review system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
Complete periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
Contribute to and maintain system standards.
Provide Tier II support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
Archive and purge files as necessary.
Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

Represents EDUCAUSE in a professional manner at all times; engages with co-workers, volunteers, and members in a civil, caring, respectful way. Supports the professional development of others in their work to advance the mission and vision of EDUCAUSE.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supports members in a manner that facilitates their growth, engagement, and enhances their EDUCAUSE experience.
As a frontline user of EDUCAUSE systems and data services, complies with data quality standards; adheres to data governance policies, procedures, and processes for ensuring data integrity. May act as the application or data collection lead for the department.

Limited travel may be required to support EDUCAUSE conferences/events, team operations, and external events relevant to the position. No regular travel is necessary.
Education and Experience
A bachelor's (4-year) degree, preferably in a technical major such as engineering or computer science OR a high school diploma/GED with equivalent experience and training
At least three years’ system administration experience
Experience with PowerShell for performing system administration tasks
Microsoft Azure experience a must
Microsoft Systems Administration/System Engineer certification preferred
VMWare server virtualization experience preferred
Office 365 including Exchange Online experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
You have demonstrated proficient communication skills, both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, at all levels of management.
You possess a comprehensive understanding of complex organizational relationships and an ability to demonstrate influence within such an environment.
You are able to working evenings and weekends as may be needed, sometimes with little advanced notice.
