OVERALL SUMMARY: Reporting directly to and working closely with the Director of Development, this is an ideal opportunity for a proven nonprofit fundraiser who's motivated to work collaboratively in pursuit of big goals. Philanthropy Officer will work to establish a robust and engaged donor base to diversify and grow long-term fundraising efforts. Manages a portfolio of prospective major gift donors across the United States including individual and corporate prospects. Develops and maintains a research, cultivation, ask and stewardship process to move donors to higher level giving.
Based in Smithtown, NY office, poistion does require regular travel over a broad geographic range to manage a personal portfolio as well as national program activities.
Five to seven years’ proven, successful experience in individual and corporate major gift fundraising preferably in health or human services. Additional experience in Planned Giving preferred.
Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas.
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college (preferably with fundraising, nonprofit management or other related field), advanced degree preferred.
Must have ability to respond to complex situations requiring tact and diplomacy.
Impeccable personal and professional integrity and discretion due to exposure to highly sensitive and confidential information.
Strong computer skills needed to utilize research tools and implement donor cultivation plans. Experience working with CRM databases necessary.
Demonstrated capacity for organization, prioritization and efficiency in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
Flexibility to work weekends and evenings consistent with a front-line fundraising role required.
Local, regional and national travel required. Valid driver’s license required.
