The Development Manager works as part of the 3-person development team to raise money through grants and conference sponsorships to support GEO’s work. The Development Manager contributes to the development of the annual fundraising strategy and helps execute the plan to raise between $2.5M - $3.0M in grants and sponsorships annually. S/he is responsible for writing all of GEO’s grant reports and proposals, manages the Leadership Circle and Key Account programs, and works with the Director of Development to steward GEO’s program officers. The Development Manager is an excellent writer with previous experience writing grant reports and proposals. S/he has experience as a project manager, specifically in mobilizing colleagues around a shared goal. This person has a commitment to providing excellent customer service, both to external stakeholders and internal staff. The Development Manager reports to the Director of Development and should expect to travel once per quarter.

Researched potential professional development opportunities for yourself in preparation for a goals conversation with your supervisor
Five to eight years of relevant work experience with a background in development/fundraising
Demonstrated experience corresponding with foundations with specific experience writing grant proposals, grant reports and key messages from senior staff
Proven project management experience, including attention to detail, ability to manage multiple relationships simultaneously and timely follow through
A critical thinker who is able to draw connections between a funders priorities and an organization’s work
Experience documenting and sharing an organization’s work on diversity, equity and inclusion
Curiosity to understand different perspectives and cultures
A self-starter who is also willing to help and support other colleagues’ work
Commitment to and experience working in the nonprofit sector
Experience using a fundraising database (Salesforce preferred)
