The QTI Group has been exclusively retained by Professional Insurance Agents of Wisconsin (PIAW) to recruit for its Executive Director. For the past 64 years of the storied PIAW organization’s history, it has been privileged to be led by only two incredibly strong and gifted leaders, Stony Steinbach and Ron Von Haden. To continue this tradition of strong leadership, PIAW has decided to begin a perpetuation process: PIAW has engaged The QTI Group to conduct an executive search for a new Executive Director of PIAW, to make sure the organization is correctly positioned to serve its independent agency members for many more years to come.
Manage the staff and overall operations of the association.
Coordinate all association activities, including acting as public spokesperson with legislative leaders, regulators and the media as the day-to-day manager of association matters. Assist and provide leadership to association committees and officers.
Maintain a strong working relationship with the officers and Board of Directors.
Manage production of association publications, including Wisconsin Professional Agent magazine.
Maintain the association’s financial and legal integrity: disburse and collect funds as needed; prepare timely and accurate financial statements, agendas, minutes and other documents as needed; oversee preparation of all tax filings and government reports and filings; guide the annual budget planning process; provide complete and accurate financial tracking and invest association funds for the greatest return possible within appropriate risk guidelines, in consultation with the Board of Directors.
Oversee membership growth via recruitment, retention, marketing and messaging.
Continue personal professional development and staff education.
Develop recommendations and implement improvement initiatives to increase the program and financial stability of the association.
Promote the legislative agenda of the association.
Represent PIAW to the PIA National organization, attending PIA National calls and meetings as needed.
Attend PIAW committee meetings or arrange appropriate staff attendance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Sought:
Significant insurance industry experience, including demonstrated knowledge of the independent insurance agency sector. Expert knowledge of insurance carriers, products and services with a focus on independent agencies.
Several years of progressive management experience (operations, personnel, leadership, budget development, etc.) in an insurance-related field.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage employees at all skill levels.
Experience in public relations, communications and marketing.
A personal philosophy consistent with PIAW’s mission and values.
Experience working effectively with a Board of Directors.
Solid understanding of the role, mission and success drivers of an industry association.
Experience in representing a unifying vision, mission, values and goals, and the ability to operationalize a strategic plan.
Public speaking and legislative advocacy experience. Experience in representation and promotion of a positive public image, and pursuit of a legislative agenda.
Ability to travel within Wisconsin frequently and nationally on occasion, with required auto insurance coverage.
Computer fluency, including with productivity tools and social media communications.
