The Foundation Development Coordinator* is key to the success of the Mecklenburg Bar Foundation (MBF) and is the main liaison to the MBF and joint Mecklenburg County Bar (MCB) and MBF committees. Reporting to the MCB and MBF Executive Director, this position is responsible for overseeing all fundraising, related events and programs, the grant-making activities of the MBF, and the related budgets. (*Depending on experience, the MBF may consider hiring at either the coordinator or director level.)
The MBF committee and board members depend on this individual to help organize development activities – including donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of the MCB’s 5,400 members. The successful candidate will have direct solicitation experience and be willing to train and encourage volunteers in solicitation strategies.
Related events and programs include a golf tournament, a leadership program, and a major fundraising luncheon. The successful candidate will have experience with event and program planning.
Grants are provided to nonprofits with a legal nexus based on the funds raised. The individual will work closely with the Grant Review Committee and provide needed information to determine grant awards. This information may include summaries of the grant requests, information on previous grants awarded, and dollars available for grant making.
Volunteer and database management experience is critical to the position. Experience with grant making is a plus. Excellent written and verbal skills along with engaging interpersonal skills are needed.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from 4-year accredited university or college in a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, and/or work experience.
Minimum of 5 years related work experience with increasing responsibilities in management and not-for-profit development, fundraising, and volunteer management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
