This position supports the Pediatric Trauma Injury PreventionProgram team by participating in various community outreach activities andeducational events for the Monroe Carell Jr. Childrenâs Hospital at Vanderbilt.The position reports directly to the Pediatric Trauma Injury Prevention ProgramManager.
25 hrshours a month for 10 months .Shifts,days, and times will vary based on event specifications. Events will mostly bein the weekend.
Thecommunity outreach assistant will represent the organization to communitystakeholders including a variety of public and private settings to increaseawareness about injury prevention. They will engage in varying outreachactivities and tabling events (i.e. health fairs, community fairs, festivals,and events, etc.) as well as educational presentations focusing onkeeping children safe.
TypicalDuties and responsibilities:
Â·Assistin scheduling special events such as workshops, fairs and presentations.
Â·Responsiblefor setup of events and gathering appropriate materials for distribution atevents.
Â·Assistin building relationships by identifying business and community partnershipopportunities.
Â·Assistsin maintaining detailed records of the services provided.
Â·Takespictures at events to capture details of events.
Â·Assistwith social media efforts including Facebook and Twitter.
Â·Preparescommunications and reports as needed.
Â·Interactsprofessionally on a regular basis with staff, vendors and the generalpublic.
Â·Assumesadditional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed ordirected.
Â·Respondto public and community inquiries on injury prevention initiatives
Â·Overseethe maintenance of a community database of interested parties.
Â·Stayscurrent on upcoming outreach events; including outreach at community eventsand/or festivals.

Thephysical demands described here is representative of those an employeeencounters while performing this job: As a part of the team, theposition will be required to assist in the physical set-up and preparation forspecial events and activities. Many meetings and events require evening andweekend attendance. Must be comfortable driving a cargo van toevents.Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business officeequipment. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect,compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files.
