Working under the direction of the Senior Associate Dean for Academic & Faculty Affairs, the Assistant to the Senior Associate Dean will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative and project support to the Senior Associate Dean to ensure smooth functioning of work and contribute to the overall efficiency of the academic area. This position requires leadership, problem-solving skills and the ability to make independent judgments, particularly during times when the dean and other administrators are not available. This position interacts with other senior level offices at the University, including other Dean's, as well as members of University committees. Accordingly, the candidate must be able to communicate professionally and effectively on behalf of the division.
Qualifications for the position include a can-do attitude, positivity, excellent verbal and writing skills; exercise confidentiality, tact and diplomacy in dealing with others; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to successfully function in a team environment with strong organizational experience. Effective multi-tasking, priority setting, and ability to support a senior level administrator in a fast-paced environment. Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure. Capable of handling diverse tasks and assignments. Flexibility to accommodate and respond to direction from multiple sources. Ability to make independent decisions, manage multiple projects, and represent the academic dean in a professional manner. Experience with PCs and Apple computers necessary, including knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, and cloud application programs. Administrative and project management experience, preferably in an academic setting.
