ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF GRADUATE CAREER PROGRAMS , Career Advising and Professional Development-Career Services Team , to help students develop and implement their educational and career plans and develop as global-ready graduates. Will deliver a range of services to enhance career development and career competencies for Ph.D. students as they consider careers in academia, industry, nonprofits and government; act as the primary Career Services' liaison for graduate students at MIT; and work with employers interested in hiring graduate students along with reaching out to prospective employers of interest. Responsibilities include coordinating and leading the delivery of comprehensive career services to 6,000+ MIT graduate students, developing overall program goals and scope; providing individual career counseling to graduate students; planning an annual calendar of seminars, workshops, networking events, and other educational opportunities, including large career days (or weeks), hosting nationally known speakers, and conferences; conducting needs assessment of career development services for graduate students; designing and delivering targeted programs and services, assessing learning and development outcomes, determining program evaluation results, and reporting results and findings; acting as liaison to and effectively collaborating with the Office of the Dean for Graduate Education, faculty, and graduate student groups by coordinating career services efforts and gaining their input and buy-in; acting as a team lead in the area of graduate student career development; and guiding and training other staff members regarding career development issues and best practices, with particular emphasis on the academic career path.
REQUIRED : master's degree (doctorate preferred) in counseling, higher education, student services, or related area; and at least three years' experience in a career center or higher education setting related to career development or relevant industry experience. Job 16370-O
