A Postdoctoral position is available in the MacPherson Lab at Fred Hutch. The project is focused on the biology of small cell lung cancer (SCLC), a neuroendocrine tumor type that shows remarkable initial sensitivity to chemotherapy but rapid emergence of chemoresistance. We are interested in understanding the development of resistance to chemotherapy and in identifying novel targeted therapies to overcome chemoresistant SCLC. While a major focus is on basic biology and fundamental mechanisms underlying the activity of SCLC driver genes, we increasingly incorporate therapeutic studies using patient derived xenograft (PDX) and genetically engineered murine (GEM) models into our studies.
