CAREER OFFICER , System Design and Management (SDM) , to create a strategy for developing and executing a full suite of career services offerings for self-sponsored SDM and Integrated Design and Management students at the mid-career/management level. Will provide education and development services including behavioral skill development, recruiting skill development, a professional social profile, and presentation skills; develop and manage a job recruitment program with companies across a wide spectrum of industries, government agencies, and nonprofits requiring mid-level leaders; and work with the industry director to closely manage relationships with key partners. The SDM curriculum is built on a foundation of an integrated core course sequence combining system architecture, systems engineering, and project management--tailored to students with significant industry experience and solid technical backgrounds--and complemented by engineering and management electives.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in counseling, student affairs, human resources management, technical recruiting, or related field; at least five years' experience in a career center or higher education setting related to career development/recruiting services or in a corporate setting responsible for hiring technical managerial talent; understanding of science, technology, and management careers; experience developing and implementing career programs and providing career/academic counseling; strong interpersonal, collaboration, relationship-building, and oral and written communication skills for working with senior industry and government leaders, students, and faculty; awareness of cross-cultural and bias issues and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations; organizational and multitasking skills; self-motivation; knowledge of corporate relations; familiarity with career services online technology and management systems; working knowledge of career development theory; and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced-environment. There will be up to 10% domestic and international travel.
Occasional (5-10 times per year) night and weekend work can also be expected for Tech Treks, prospective student information sessions, orientation programs, industry meetings, etc.
