What are we looking for?
Kellen, the leading global association management company, is seeking an experienced Director of Development and Industry Partnerships to provide leadership and value to the company and its clients associations and societies, including the American Society for Colon and Rectal Surgery, the Society for Vascular Medicine and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
The chosen candidate will be responsible for the management and operations of fund development initiatives of the assigned client accounts, including the development, implementation and assessment of programs, products, and services related to strategic partnerships, sponsorships, foundation and corporate support and giving and general fundraising.
The chosen candidate will work as part of the client services teams, coordinating closely with member physicians as well as with other Kellen department specialists, including meetings & expositions, marketing & communications, and sponsorship & exhibits sales, ensuring the creation and delivery of programs that provide value to all stakeholders.
Background required in corporate relations, business development and as a product development professional with a proven track record of driving business results. Skills include new product development, sales leadership, marketing and brand management, performance management, data analysis, vendor and solution assessment and market research.
You will create growth and management of relationships between Kellen client organizations and their public and private organizational partners, including identifying prospective partners and guiding a team with significant revenue goals from development through delivery of partnerships while ensuring a fit with clients’ brand image and appropriate regulatory compliance.
What will you do?
Directly manages fund development initiatives for assigned accounts, with focus on strategic partnerships, sponsorships, corporate and member support.
Develops long-range and annual revenue development plans to support client account strategic plans and tactics.
Works closely with elected leaders, member volunteers and staff as appropriate to identify and cultivate relationships with funders or potential funders and to develop leads and prospects.
Provides oversight, planning and strategic guidance for relationship development, retention of current partnerships, and expansion of funding opportunities.
Directs sales management, and owns accountability for budgeted revenue and expenses as related to organizational fund development initiatives and programs. Continuously drives efforts to expand support from industry, members and other stakeholders.
Directs processes to ensure accurate and timely inventory tracking and fulfillment of deliverables to members, stakeholders and industry partners.
Serves as primary staff to client industry or supporter component groups, , and may serve as staff liaison to various committees, collaborative project teams and outside organizations
Works with marketing staff and other stakeholders to execute marketing and promotion campaigns.
Manages the development and maintenance of standard contracts for strategic partnerships and sponsorship
Manages activities to build and grow a comprehensive master database of leads and prospects.
Monitors industry trends. Provides thorough, ongoing analysis of trends and market demographics, and develops actionable strategies and tactics
Am I qualified?
Track record of successfully funding partnerships at a minimum level of $2M annually.
Demonstrated understanding and respect for ethical practice, federal and other applicable rules, regulations and guidelines governing industry support in the healthcare sector for CME-accredited organizations.
Basic knowledge of development fundamentals including proposal preparation and reporting, prospecting, planned giving, coordination with volunteer leaders and donor identification, stewardship, cultivation and tracking. Solid understanding of trends in sponsorships activation, fulfillment reports and impact dashboards.
A self-starter who works independently and takes initiative; is flexible, collaborative, adaptable, organized and possesses strong business and financial acumen. Thrives in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment. Ability to coordinate multiple projects while managing conflicting priorities and deadlines.
Strong written and oral communications; must be able to present publicly with excellent speaking skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with superior attention to detail. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, create documented processes and juggle competing priorities
Flexible attitude with an ability to motivate, encourage and work cooperatively, collaboratively and resourcefully with a variety of stakeholders and small teams to maximize results and creativity
Bachelor’s degree, with strong preference for a Master’s degree in a field such as fund development, business administration, nonprofit administration or a related field.
At least 7-10 years of progressively responsible fund development experience preferably within a non-profit or association environment including previous supervisory experience of both professional and administrative staff. Experience in the healthcare or biotech industry; existing relationships with industry in the space preferred.
Experience with MS Office, association AMS platforms (knowledge of iMIS a plus), and CRM systems (such as Salesforce) desired.
Must be able to travel to prospect appointments, client account meetings or events as requested, minimum of 3-4 days per month.
