Manages TexasBarCLE event planning team and operations. Negotiates contracts, manages scheduling and facility logistics for the State Bar of Texas Minority Counsel Program, and over 150 continuing legal education seminars each year, with a combined contracted value of over five million dollars annually. Directs sponsorship and exhibitor program; oversees staff in generating sponsorship revenue to subsidize seminar related events, add value benefits to conference attendees, and enhance revenues in excess of $400,000 annually. Reports to Department Director.
Manages TexasBarCLE event planning team and operations; directly supervises four meeting planners.
Administers hotel contract negotiations 150 continuing legal education seminars annually.
Directs and grows sponsorship and exhibitor program; prepares/monitors online sponsorship portal to promote and market vendor partnerships and increase exhibit revenue.
Negotiates contracts with audio-visual companies, mobile application developers, and other vendors related to meetings.
Develops and maintains on productive hotel relationships to minimize expense and avoid attrition at hotel properties, resulting in an average savings of $100,000 each year.
Monitors on-site expenses related to the presentation of seminars; provides budget analysis of meetings and travel expenses; identifies industry trends.
Advises other departments with meeting planning issues, including Annual meeting, Executive, and Minority Affairs.
Confers with department’s executive team regarding general management of events operations; travels to conduct site inspections of facilities.
Performs other responsibilities as required.
College degree required. Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation required. A minimum of five years related experience required. Management experience required. Knowledge of hotel procedures and contracts; meeting planning/event coordinating experience required. Must be able to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing. Must be able to maintain effective relationships with Bar leadership and executive staff, volunteers, department staff, and outside vendors. Requires good organizational skills, individual initiative, and the ability to work under considerable pressure.
