EDUCAUSE (http://www.educause.edu), a highly creative, entrepreneurial, national nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology, invites applications for the position of Director to lead the Student Success Community Program. This is a full-time, exempt position with the option to work remotely or from the Louisville, CO office. Starting salary is commensurate with skills and experience.
The Director of the Student Success Community Program is responsible for the strategy, development, and ongoing delivery of community programs that help advance student success in higher education through the innovative and effective use of technology. The Director is responsible for cultivating, supporting, and growing vibrant, diverse member networks of technologists, administrators, academics, vendors, and other partners, and fostering their awareness and uses of EDUCAUSE programs and services. The Director will also identify unmet needs and opportunities for members and develop strategies for meeting them.
The Student Success Community Program is one of two dedicated programs EDUCAUSE provides to support academic communities. The other program, teaching and learning, is led by the Director of Learning Initiatives. The two program directors will collaborate closely and share ownership of offerings that support all academic communities, including the ELI Annual meeting, online courses and focus sessions, and the Leading Academic Transformation community of practice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop strategy, vision, and funding model(s), that includes both highly ambitious as well as extremely feasible elements, for EDUCAUSE support for student success programs, initiatives, and their communities.
Serve as EDUCAUSE’s lead in partnership activities, initiatives, and grants related to student success.
Engage members in helping envision, develop and deliver the student success community programs to foster sustained, widespread, and deep commitment and engagement.
Collaborate and share leadership with other EDUCAUSE staff to apply existing EDUCAUSE programs and services to the student success program, and achieve alignment and consistent member experiences across communities, programs, events, research, and content.
Work collaboratively with the senior leaders in Learning Initiatives, Professional Learning, Conferences and Events, and Content to plan and deliver high quality, well-attended, and financially sustainable online and face-to-face programming for academic communities, including the Annual ELI meeting, with current attendance of about 500.
Deliver and grow the Leading Academic Transformation community of practice, in collaboration with the Director of Learning Initiatives.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) established annually for all academic community programs.
Communities and Relationships
Demonstrate leadership in the profession by maintaining and growing a network, and writing, speaking, and otherwise participating within and beyond EDUCAUSE.
Support the professional development of colleagues, members, volunteers, volunteer groups, and partners in their work to advance the mission and vision of EDUCAUSE. .
Represent EDUCAUSE as the contact point for external partnerships for key academic initiatives.
Education and Experience
An advanced graduate degree
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in higher education
An established record of work and leadership in student success and information technology in higher education, educational technology, and/or online education
Demonstrated experience as an effective leader and manager of teams in a diverse organization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to adhere to deadlines and deliver high quality results within stated deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with both colleagues and customers across time and distances. Ability to develop and sustain significant professional credibility in one or more IT domains through a record of accomplishments and activities.
Ability to be responsive to change and use initiative to identify better ways to work, solve problems, and suggest improvements.
Deep knowledge of current and emerging technologies that advance teaching and learning.
Strong writing, editing and presentation skills for a variety of audiences.
Self-directed and to work successfully without close supervision.
Comfort with and enthusiasm for diverse mechanisms for finding, creating, sharing, and disseminating digital content online.
EDUCAUSE is a fast-paced organization with an ambitious agenda and a staff that is committed to the mission. This job may experience high work demands under tight timelines.
Limited travel required to support EDUCAUSE conferences/events, team operations, and external events relevant to the position.
The position may be performed from a home office if technical connectivity requirements are met to ensure effective telework.
