The Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) is looking for an energetic and passionate individual with a strong desire to work with college students and our diversity initiatives. In this role, you will be the main point of contact in engaging with students interested in accounting from the day they set foot on campus until they obtain their CPA credential. You’ll guide and assist students applying for scholarships, participating in networking and career development opportunities, finding internships, and preparing for full-time jobs and taking the CPA exam. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys meeting new people, collaborating with college administrators, faculty and student leaders, traveling to various college campuses, and working on projects that leave a lasting positive impact on the students we serve. Experience with marketing/communication, program development, event planning, and higher education is preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities
Establish relationships and engage accounting students to ensure they have all the resources necessary to transition from student to professional member and to achieve the CPA credential. Oversee Scholarship and Student Services email and communications.
Establish relationships and engage accounting educators to ensure they have all the resources necessary to achieve our common goal of increasing the number of CPAs in Illinois. Inform educators of benefits available to their accounting students and assist them as needed.
Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and implement promotional messages and resources to recruit, engage, and retain student members.
Coordinate and execute a campus outreach and student conference participation strategy. Determine essential conferences to attend and campuses to visit, schedule visits, and manage the invitation and preparation for volunteers to participate. Assist in establishing annual student outreach goals and report on progress.
Recruit and educate students at accounting firm intern orientations. Assist Manager in scheduling and preparing for these events as needed.
Collaborate with membership staff to ensure timely processing of student member applications and reporting of student membership data.
Support the annual Jumpstart to Accounting program. Work with the team to develop the agenda, select the content, and secure the speakers. Coordinate all marketing, logistics, and event materials.
Manage the Student Ambassador Program guidelines, orientation training, and regular communications. Build relationships and support the Student Ambassadors.
Implement the promotion plan and manage the online portal administration for the Tuition/Textbook Scholarship Program, the CPA Exam Award Program, and the Mary T. Washington Wylie Internship Preparation Program application process. Actively track applications and be point person for all questions. Contact applicants with the results of the selection committees, collect required materials, and disburse awards.
Assist team with building and strengthening diversity and inclusion in the accounting profession, in the pipeline, and in the association’s membership.
Serve as one of the staff representatives for the Tuition/Textbook Scholarship, the CPA Exam Award, and the Mary T. Washington Wylie Program Student Selection Task Forces. Serve as the primary staff representative for the CPA Exam FAQ Brochure Task Force.
Assist team with other administrative, event management, marketing support, and other duties as assigned.
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Qualifications would be equivalent to:
Bachelor’s degree required.
3-4 years of marketing/communications, membership association, nonprofit or related professional experience.
Experience with high school/college student outreach and career assistance.
Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills – conversational, business and marketing professional.
Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects.
Able to bring creativity and enthusiasm to projects.
Able to work independently and collaboratively.
Travel throughout Illinois required (estimated 25-35%).
In office, mostly, normal business hours. Some evening and weekend hours.
