For over 50 years Bradford Woods has been providing recreational, educational, and leadership development opportunities to youth and adults locally, nationally, and globally. Today, Bradford Woods annually serves over 25,000 people from different walks of life and parts of the world.

The Director, Bradford Woods position directs and coordinates daily operation of Bradford Woods by providing a secure and safe environment for both our guests and staff. Assures that all staff are executing on the mission, vision, and core values of Bradford Woods. Assures that all operations comply with University policies and procedures, along with various state and federal mandates regarding operations of public usage facilities. Verifies appropriate recruitment and staffing levels across all operating departments, and that staff are receiving appropriate training and development opportunities. Collaborates with the organization's Fiscal Officer to assure funds are spent in a manner that is consistent with budget and in the best interest of Bradford Woods. Provides supervision and operational oversight for all departments at Bradford Woods including, but not limited to: Programming, development, maintenance, food services, housekeeping, administrative services. Confirms that departments know their responsibilities, and that they have the resources needed to be successful. Verifies that Key Performance Indicators and operational goals are being met for each operating department, or that corrective actions are being taken. Oversees the grant writing and submittal process for both programming and operational grants. Supervises the development of all marketing, sales, fundraising, communications, and public relations plans. Guides process improvement initiatives to assure effective and efficient process management.
The Director of Bradford Woods is responsible for working with the Auxiliary Business Services management team in developing annual and long-range plans for Bradford Woods and for each operational area. Establishes the mission, vision, and core values of Bradford Woods. Manages a Board of Directors, compromising of both internal and external stakeholders, in establishing key initiatives for the long term success of Bradford Woods. Sets strategic goals for the organization and operation departments that fit with the mission of Bradford Woods. Identifies and develop key relationships with internal and external organizations. Fosters an environment that leads to the attraction, retention, and development of staff members. Creates an annual and long term budget, with the help of the Fiscal Officer, that provides for both the short term needs of operations, as well as, the long term needs of Bradford Woods. Identifies and develops fundraising initiatives. Identifies property utilization and programming strategies for the Bradford Woods facilities that promote patronage from public, private, and university groups, while supporting the mission and vision of Indiana University. Provides annual reporting on key aspects of Bradford Woods.
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in Outdoor Recreation, Recreational Therapy, Environmental Education, Public, Nonprofit, & Community Recreation, Non-profit Management, or Business Management and five years demonstrated expertise in leading a business or non-profit organization including: Strategy development and implementation, Operations management, People development and training, Program innovation, Fundraising, or Implementing change initiatives
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Ability to lead a team of employees. Ability to communicate clearly with both internal and external parties. Skills necessary to manage long term relationships with customers, donors, and university contacts. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Master's Degree in Non-profit Management, Business (MBA), Outdoor Recreation, Recreational Therapy, Environmental Education, or Public, Nonprofit, & Community Recreation; seven years demonstrated expertise in leading a business or non-profit organization including the items above and outdoor recreation or recreation therapy program management or acquisition of Research and grant funding.
