FISCAL OFFICER , Plasma Science and Fusion Center (PSFC) , to administer pre- and post-award activities, including financial management, of a complex grants and contracts portfolio. Sponsors include DOE, ARPA-E, DOE National Laboratories, DARPA, NIH, DOD, AFOSR, ONR, NSF, NASA, and industry and private funds. Will communicate and apply MIT and sponsor guidelines throughout the sponsored project life cycle, providing service and advice on a wide range of pre- and post-award, sponsored, and compliance issues. Will work closely with PSFC administrative staff, faculty, engineers, scientists, MIT central administrative departments, and the Office of the VP for Research.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in a related area; at least five years' experience in a grants/project administrator or nonprofit/university fiscal management position; high-level proficiency with Excel and Word and familiarity with other Office products; ability to interact, cultivate trust, and build rapport with a variety of constituents; strong organizational, customer service, written and oral communication, and data and analytical skills; meticulous attention to detail; record of assuming greater responsibility over time; discretion with confidential information/issues; and receptivity to learning new business methods and computational skills and to working in a challenging, fast-paced environment. Must be able to work independently and as a team member, identify and recommend solutions to complex problems, manage multiple projects and competing priorities, meet deadlines, and remain focused despite frequent interruptions. Experience with federal contracts and/or financial administration experience in an academic research environment strongly preferred, particularly research proposal processing and pre- and post-award administration. Knowledge of SAP or similar accounting package and experience with relational databases and Brio Query and/or Cognos a plus. MIT experience highly desirable. Job #16197
