Position Opportunity: ProMusica Chamber Orchestra is seeking a Communications & Content Manager to support in the development and implementation of ProMusica’s marketing and communication initiatives, with a strong focus on content and production. The position requires a strong writer, with the ability to create, curate and manage highly engaging and shareable content for a wide variety of marketing channels and initiatives, (including but not limited to copywriting, social media, website, video, etc.) to support ProMusica’s overall marketing goals of driving attendance and engagement, and increasing brand awareness. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Communications & Content Manager also manages the production and implementation of all promotional collateral and initiatives including advertising, digital media, and program books.
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Content / Editorial (50%)
Develop and manage an editorial calendar of engaging content throughout the year
Research, write, edit and proofread marketing and fundraising copy, for both digital and print (i.e. emails, brochures)
Develop editorial style guide with clear guidelines meeting brand standards
Website Content: Write, manage and update content on ProMusica’s website (including the events calendar) both regularly throughout the year and for each season
Social Media: Develop engaging content for ProMusica’s social media platforms and digital initiatives including planning, copywriting, posting, and tracking results. Stay up-to-date on current social media trends and introduce new ways of engaging with audiences
Work with photographers and videographers to capture assets to create visual content consistent with ProMusica’s brand
Research and leverage news and trends in music and the community
With Director of Marketing and Publicist, identify new and exciting opportunities for general marketing, press releases and other media opportunities
Manage the production/execution of ProMusica’s concert program books, as well as program ad sales. Liaise with designer, and gather and proofread program information, creating additional engaging content for performances
Oversee all other print and digital collateral associated with the promotion and presentation of ProMusica’s programs and events including, but not limited to: direct mail flyers, signage, program inserts, banners and advertising. Work directly with outside vendors (printers, designers) to support production efforts
Produce in-house marketing collateral following brand standards as needed (we will work with an outside graphic designer for larger scale projects, and looking for someone who is comfortable creating smaller pieces)
Manage production schedules and deadlines structured under the overall marketing plan for radio, TV, digital, and print collateral
Support education and development staff on design materials as needed
Create and organize archive of all marketing materials and media coverage
Manage external content requests by providing appropriate photos, logos, bios and copy to partner organizations, members of the press, and advertisers
Maintain monthly event calendars within the community (i.e. Ohio Event Finder)
Other duties as required, being flexible with new tasks and projects as organizational priorities shift in a fluid environment
Experience and Characteristics Required:
The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-orientated, and self-motivated team member with a passion for music and the arts. Must have strong communication skills, with a drive for productivity and exceptional attention to detail.
Bachelor degree and 2+ years of experience in nonprofit or corporate marketing and communications; nonprofit arts marketing preferred
Excellent writer, and experienced storyteller with strong communication, copy-editing, and proofreading skills with ability to develop short and long-form content
Strong eye for design with knowledge of design principals and at least one year of experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud (including InDesign and Photoshop)
Tech-savvy and experience with Google analytics or similar web analytics tools a plus
Experience with digital media content creation and strategy (social media, email marketing, website management) is strongly desired
Superior interpersonal, organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize duties and complete tasks on deadline for multiple projects
Ability to work independently, but possess a team player mentality and collaborative work style
Knowledge of orchestral and classical music a plus
Flexibility to work outside normal office hours at concerts/events, with access to a vehicle for transportation needs

ProMusica’s diverse programming attracts sold-out performanc...es and is a key part of building our audience. Widely recognized as a national leader in presenting new and contemporary repertoire, ProMusica has commissioned 67 pieces and has presented more than 100 world and regional premieres, by composers including Pulitzer prize winners Kevin Puts and Aaron Jay Kernis, Gabriela Lena Frank, Michael Daugherty, Christopher Theofanidis, as well as composer/performers Lera Auerbach, Conrad Tao, and Joshua Roman. ProMusica also continues an active recordings program with thirteen CDs released to date, including world-premiere performances of ProMusica commissioned works. The “COMPOSER/PERFORMER” project showcases composers of today not only as creators of work, but also as soloists in their own right. ProMusica's new concert series, “NAKED CLASSICS” is hosted by British presenter Paul Rissmann, explores classical music in a fresh, and completely approachable format.
With a strong commitment to learning and education, ProMusica’s community outreach programs impact approximately 16,800 lives each season. Musicians travel to local schools, senior citizens attend live rehearsals, and underserved youth are given life-changing opportunities with the power of music. Programs such as “Play Us Forward” and “Musicians in Schools” offer integrated, in-school based music curriculum, while family concerts provide accessible musical experiences in nurturing neighborhood environments such as the Columbus Metropolitan Library. Our “CODA: Post-concert Conversations” give the opportunity for a direct dialogue between audiences and guest artists –– deepening engagement with the music and performers.
ProMusica has won eight ASCAP awards for Adventurous Programming and has received additional honors, including from the Greater Columbus Arts Council and the Columbus Jewish Foundation. ProMusica has been selected on three occasions as the recipient of The Columbus Performing Arts Prize, an esteemed award designed to celebrate and support the exceptional artistic directors of Columbus’ performing arts organizations and their aspirations for creative growth. In June 2017, ProMusica embarked on its first tour to perform at the North Shore Chamber Music Festival in Chicago.
