This newly created position of Sr. HR Generalist / HR Generalist is a regular, full-time, exempt position and is eligible for our generous benefits package.
This role has been designed to infuse the team with additional HR professional experience, project planning and importantly, executive support to the Director, Human Resources. There will be a blend of strategic initiatives, project-work, foundational HR activities and leave of absence coverage. The successful candidate will naturally have a can-do attitude and a developed sense of how to contribute to a team. Deep general knowledge and experience in HR disciplines and systems is critical. The environment is highly collaborative, often fast paced, requiring an adaptive style.
Support the Director, HR and EEO Officer
Contribute to strategic initiatives, including the development of supervisor and leadership training
Conduct research as required
Draft documents and maintain records
Support the HR Team members
Perform talent related activities including full cycle recruitment
Maintain HR employment records
Perform the institutional role of Alternative Responsible Officer as a member of our Foreign National Team assisting with immigration matters
Support Benefits Open Enrollment and other benefits related activities
Contribute to the administration of leave programs
Assist with data entry to ensure data integrity
Document procedures and processes
Assist in preparation for a variety of HR audits
Recognize potential issues and recommend/implement solutions
Work closely with HR colleagues on department-wide projects
Contribute to a highly collaborative work environment
Fill-in for other HR professionals and/or perform other duties as necessary
As deemed necessary by supervisor
REQUIRED AND DESIRED EDUCATION, SOFT SKILLS & HR EXPERIENCE:
Required and Desired Education/ Soft Skills / HR Experience:
Minimum - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology or relevant subject matter.
Preferred - Master's degree and/or Certification in Human Resources; experience in academia, private research, or nonprofit environments as a Human Resources professional; Project Management Certification
Required Soft Skills:
Maturity in thought process, communications and approach to situations
A natural problem solver who works with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm
Enjoys the dynamic nature of work that requires one to work independently on projects AND contribute as a member of a team, often simultaneously

Must be highly organized, adapt easily to changing work priorities and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
Must have well developed interpersonal skills enabling one to work successfully with a diverse population

Attention to detail is critical
Required HR Experience and Technical Skills:
HR Partner - Generalist: Minimum of three (3) years' experience as an HR Professional with knowledge and experience across a variety of HR Disciplines including a combination of any of the following: Employment/Talent, Immigration, HRIS, Compensation and Benefits
Senior HR Partner - Generalist: Minimum of ten (10) years' progressive HR experience across the core competency areas of HR Disciplines: Employment/Talent, Immigration, HRIS, Compensation, and Benefits. Must have a successful history of responsibility for strategic projects, initiatives or programs. Must have history of increasing responsibility and success in managing HR related projects.
Working knowledge of HR and EEO Federal and State laws and regulations and reporting requirements to comply with and to interpret policies and procedures
Must be highly proficient in MS Office with HRIS experience
Preferred: Project Management experience and/or PMP Training
Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident status as well as pass a background check to satisfy the requirements set by the U.S. Department of State to serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer for the Institution's Exchange Visitor Program.
Must have a reasonable commute to Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution or be willing to relocate to the area
