Develops and implements a strategy for delivery of a well-defined compensation program, including clear guidelines, to ensure consistent and informed decision-making and responsiveness.
Ensures consistent and fair pay practices by conducting and overseeing market and equity studies, performing in-depth complex analysis on merit and variable pay measures and pay modeling, and, in working with the Director of Talent Acquisition, formulating salary recommendations related to offers of employment, reclassification, and other salary adjustments including the annual merit increase guidelines for the organization.
Differentiates and communicate specific guidelines for Staff and Faculty compensation.
Proactively plans, develop, and implement new and/or revised programs, policies, and procedures.
Provide consult to leaders and HR Consultants with respect to market data, internal equity and compensation guidelines.
Stays abreast of market trends and identify creative solutions to address latest trends and challenges impacting HMS.
Delivers accurate, consistent responses to client requests.
Oversees and manages the participation in salary surveys to ensure compensation objectives are achieved.
Ensures the integrity and relevance of job descriptions through periodic review against organizational requirements, industry standards, compensation and market relevance.
Constantly stays appraised of federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations in order to ensure compliance.
Designs and leads communication and training programs on compensation topics for managers to promote understanding and effective utilization of programs.

At least 10 years in HR, academic administration, nonprofit management, or related field of expertise with progressively responsible experience in designing and implementing system solutions. Demonstrates expertise in compensation & HRIS strategy, planning, design and implementation experience in a complex environment. Advanced knowledge of compensation policies and practices, as well as employment law. Extensive knowledge and proven experience in salary planning and administration at both staff and executive level, including policies, communications, tools and best practices. Experience with implementation and management of HRIS, PeopleSoft preferred. Increasing levels of management and leadership responsibilities. High level of proficiency with relational databases, business, and Human Resources information systems, and reporting required. Understanding the development and implementation of strategic compensation and HRIS plans and programs. Proven record of developing, communicating, and effectively managing programs, projects, and initiatives within a large organization. Knowledge of legal requirements impacting compensation administration, EOE/AAP practices, and regulatory requirements affecting HR data systems and reporting. Knowledge of SQL and/or QlikView application preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and evidence of highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership, strategic thinking, organizational and management skills required. Must be able to demonstrate broad-based strategic thinking capability for pro-actively identifying, recommending and gaining executive support of compensation related strategies. Programs, plans, and practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary to document and present work outcomes and deliverables. Strong people and project management skills and ability to apply these skills in effective working partnerships across organizational lines. Ability to organize/prioritize work, manage multiple tasks and projects and function effectively as a self-directed leader of multiple initiatives. Exhibited ability to influence others, gather information from individuals and groups, build collaborative relationships and develop instant rapport both within HR and across the organization at all levels as well as experience working with subtle and/or complex institutional political dynamics. Advanced level of proficiency with MS Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and project management software and tools. Experience including collectively-bargained workforce, within academia, preferred.
